Welcome to York Prep, a private, co-educational, independent day school for students in grades 6-12. York Prep offers a compassionate, structured learning environment wherein students are challenged and encouraged to take risks, as well as supported and nurtured so that they may reach their intellectual, social, and physical potentials. At York Prep, students are seen as both individuals with unique needs and as integral, functioning members of the York community. Whether our students are participating in extracurricular activities such as sports or the arts or just working toward academic success in their ability-based courses in math, science, humanities, or foreign languages, they are given opportunities to find individual success. Classes are deliberately kept small (about 15 students) to create an intimate yet lively atmosphere for ideas to flourish. Our qualified staff offers a curriculum that is tailored to the individual learning needs of the students to optimize the academic experience. Upper-level students are also given the chance to study at private collegiate institutions such as Columbia, New York University, and Hunter College. Independent-study and advance-placement courses are also offered.
